Buyer Options
Buyer Options let you control how your items are shipped once you’ve won an auction or completed a purchase on BuySellBid. From your Members Area you can review the seller’s shipping details and, while the invoice is still unpaid, update your shipping address, postage method, and insurance preference.
1. Checking shipping & returns on a listing
Before you bid or buy, always review the shipping and returns information on the item page:
- Open the listing you’re interested in.
- Scroll down to the Shipping & Returns section or tab.
- Review available postage methods, estimated delivery times, costs, and any return policy the seller has set.
This is the best place to confirm whether the seller ships to your location and what options are available (standard, tracked, courier, local pickup, etc.).
2. Accessing Buyer Options from your Purchases
Once you win an auction or complete a purchase, an invoice is created. While that invoice is still Unpaid, you can adjust certain shipping options yourself.
To open Buyer Options:
- Go to Home > Members Area.
- In the left-hand menu choose Buying > Purchases.
- Find the order you want to update and open the related Unpaid invoice.
The invoice page shows a summary of the item(s), totals, and the shipping section with your editable buyer options.
3. Updating your shipping address
If the item needs to be delivered to a different address (for example, work, home, or a gift recipient), you can change it directly on the invoice:
- On the invoice, look for the Shipping Address area.
- Select an address from your address book, or choose to add a new address.
- Confirm that the name, street address, city, postal/ZIP code and country are correct.
Any updates you make here will be used by the seller to ship the item, so double-check the details before proceeding to payment.
4. Choosing a postage method
Sellers can offer one or more postage methods for each listing (for example, economy, tracked, courier, local pickup). When Buyer Options are enabled on the invoice you’ll see a dropdown or list of available methods.
- Open the Postage Method field on the invoice.
- Choose the shipping option that best fits your budget and delivery time.
- Review the updated shipping cost and grand total before paying.
If only one postage method is available, it will be pre-selected and cannot be changed.
5. Adding or removing shipping insurance
Some sellers allow you to add optional shipping insurance to protect your package in case of loss or damage in transit.
- On the invoice, look for the Apply Insurance option (if offered).
- Tick or untick the option to include insurance with your shipment.
- The invoice total will update to reflect any additional insurance cost.
If you’re buying higher-value items, we recommend enabling insurance whenever it is available.
6. When Buyer Options can be edited
Buyer Options are only available while the invoice status is Unpaid. After payment has been completed, any changes to the shipping address or method must be discussed directly with the seller.
7. Completing your order
When you’re happy with the address, postage method, and insurance setting:
- Review the invoice totals one last time.
- Click through to the checkout and choose your payment method.
- Submit payment to finalize the order.
The seller will receive your updated shipping details and can proceed with dispatching your items according to the options you selected.
